Just a quick update….

I live in Ohio and it is just now starting to get cold and up until today I was not able to button my jacket.  I usually just threw it on because the wind here has been cold but today without thinking I buttoned my coat and WAAAALAAAA I could button it!  I started doing the happy dance and realized I was in the middle of the library.  YEAH ME.  May not be a big deal for you bit let me just say it made my day!

New Toy

So I decided I was going to start using a pedometer.  It arrived today

It is set and ready to use.  I am going to challenge myself every day to walk farther.  I think this will keep me moving.  That and I will see just how far it is from my car to my first class.

Look out shoes I am going to be putting you to the test!

Doc update

Today I had to go to the doc and get my BP med refills.  Went better than expected.  My BP was great 104/74.  The best it has been in 3 months.  This being said the meds are working.  I talked to her about this life change and how I wasn’t sure if it was the right thing or not being that I hadn’t lost any weight in 2 weeks.  She asked me a very interesting question.  She asked if I felt better.  I told her yes.  She said is it easier to work out…again my answer was yes…..she said where is the problem.  Keep doing what you are doing and then you can adjust if you stop seeing results.  So I will keep controlling my portions, eat more veggies, drink more water, and keep going to the gym.  Not that I was going to stop I was just looking for another way to lose the weight.

SO tomorrow I will get up have some breakfast and then head to the gym.

The dreaded measure day

On the 15th day of this life change the tape measure said to me….GOOD JOB PENNY! LOL

I really wasn’t sure this was going to be a good week being I didn’t lose any weight this week. I sat around moping a bit and then I realized…hey I hadn’t started my period. I’m sure the water gain there could cause some problems with the scale. I pushed thru 2 work outs and sweated a lot…I will be getting weighed Monday at the docs office so it will be an unofficial weigh in…lol I use the gym as my official. Just for consistency.

Another day

I am looking at the 1200 calories that I have been trying to stay under and I am wondering if my body is thinking I am starving it.  For 2 weeks I have been under except for 1 day.   I have lost no weight.  I am a bit discouraged I wont lie but I am looking into eating more veggies and fruit and drinking more water.  I am at least eating better which has to be better for me anyway.  I am talking to the doctor on Monday about anything she may have to say but I know I am doing the right thing for me.  I do feel better.  I am loosing inches all though the scale says no weight lose.  I just need to see it move.  It is what we use to see progress, the scale that is.

My boss is doing weight watchers.  I would possible do that if it didn’t cost so much.  But it does help that there isn’t all the junk around work.

I am not discouraged although it does sound that way.  I just needed to vent.  I am in it to win it!  This is my year and I am going to lose the weight and I am going to get healthy!  I AM!

Weigh In Day

Well there is good news and bad news. As luck would also have it a story to go with it.

I had my normal morning classes and then headed to the gym for weigh in day.  I did my normal routine….Put it on the last weigh in take a deep breath and let it out and step up.  When I did I got a shock…It said I gained…not only did I gain but I gained 2 pounds. I stepped of and did it again.  In disbelief I got on the treadmill and tread for my 40 minutes to figure out what in the H$&# I could have done to gain 2 pounds.  I knew there had to be something wrong.  SO I head back over to the scale and I do my routine again..this time looking down and realizing I still had my shoes on.  Who knew my shoes weighed 2 pounds.  I’m sure some of you did…lol  I kicked them off and am happy to report that there was no gain of weight!   That was enough to get my heart beating rapidly for sure.

No weight down but 3.5 inches off my body.  I’ll call that a WIN!

Day 10

I have learned a few thing sense my last blog…..

I am not as young as I think I am….proven when I started another quarter of school. I am actually going to class instead of doing internet classes. As I looked around the room at my first class I am the oldest student by 14 years. The instructor has me beat maybe by 5 years. The second class I know I am older then even the teacher. But I can be young and hip right….LOL

Secondly, the Tapeworm, Tippo, has instructed me that if I don’t eat every 2 hours while I am awake he will cause lots of noise in my tummy and cause me to be grumpy. It doesn’t have to be much of anything just really a few bites but he is defiantly running my railroad.

I made it thru the funeral yesterday with out any major problems. Of course there was plenty of food around and I stayed away from most of the bad stuff. Really when Im sad I’m not an eater anyway. But I did eat a bad for you cheese bread last night only 3 little pieces. I had the calories left for the day but….it was a fail for me. I did walk for 45 minutes tho. Ill try and work it off tomorrow at the gym. I know I will not be perfect all the time but I knew better…I have a bad habit of taking 2 steps forward to come three steps back. I am not going to let that happen to me. I WILL MAKE THIS CHANGE!

There is lots of reading to be done for these classes. Lots of butt time I am afraid. SO I am working out a schedule where when I ride the stationary bike I can read. We will see if this works. Who am I kidding I need to concentrate on me during my gym time….Your right brain…all about me…LOL

SMALL STEPS

I don’t weigh in till Wensday but I did do my measurements today. Looks like I lost 3.5 inches off my body this week. That to me is a WIN! It nice to see change. I know when you first start there is water weight and all that good stuff so I know that this is a big lose but I will take it.
School starts tomorrow and my blogging may change a bit being I will have to crack the books as well. I have packed snacks in my bag so I stay on track. I learned this week about skinny cow. If you don’t know what that is it a low cal snack and they taste fabulous. 120 calories and just enough to make my chocolate craving disappear. They even have ice cream.

Another day another…

I was wide awake at 7 this morning and by 730 I was headed to the gym.  I get there sign in head to the work out room.  All the treadmills are full.  My brain says go home come back later.  But I didn’t listen to that.  I put my stuff in the little cubby hole and headed for the stationary bikes.  I got new ear phones (see previous post) put them in my ears and away I road.  I just thru several songs on the mp3 player and as I rode along I laughed several times at some of my song choices:  I like to move it (which is a fav) Dancing Queen, Whip it, 1 2 step, several Prince songs, Just to name a few. It sunny that all the songs had a happy memory attached to them…made the ride very funny for me.  Then I worked out my core on the machines.  Tried to do an extra rep on each machine.  Figure I will up it every time I go and try to build more muscle.  One day at a time.  SO we will call this a win day at the gym.  Changing up cardio is probably a good idea every once in a while anyway right!

Got home and fried a pound of turkey bacon…No I didn’t eat it all. Only 3 pieces.  It was really good but now I have some for the rest of the week already cooked.  I can have on sandwich’s or salad.  Another win!  Had 3 scrambled egg whites also!

This weekend will be a test for me.  I had an aunt pass away and for as far back as I can remember the family eats when we are all together.  This will be my first test of will power.  I have my mind in the right place so good lord willing I can stay strong on the food front.  The second hardest part is knowing tat my aunt looks just like my mother that dies several years ago.  So it will be an emotional time as well and what happens during emotional times…I have been known to eat.  SO far I am doing good with this.  Like I said before I am luck to have the support group that I have in place this time because failure is not an option.

Busy weekend so I’ll try to blog when I can….Till Next time……

Drink more water

I am bad for this. If it is in front of me I will drink it.  SO I carried a bottle around with me most of the day.  I did better doing that.  Then I got to reading a blogs this evening and I see I am not the only one with this problem.  I came across one blog that had this interesting site  http://nutrition.about.com/library/blwatercalculator.htm it says:

Well being that is what I wanna do…..I am going to drink more water because I need to!

With all of this being said I had dinner with a great friend tonight.  She is also making a lot of changes in her life and instead of our normal Mexican feast we had subway.  was a good choice.  Now the biggy I had spinach on my sandwich.  That’s right miss I am not going to eat that hit it out of the park :0)

Stayed under calories today and I am feeling good.  Parking in the back of the lot and walking a bit further to get to and from work.  Headed to the gym in the am.  Looking forward to it!
