Landscape

Still cold here in the 937 I went out to get the mail and got this shot…

IMG_2788.JPG
Really glad I’m not in NY where they have gotten feet of snow….if you are there stay warm :0)
So I thought I’d look for something a bit more interesting from the past few months and thought I’d share this….

IMG_1317.JPG
A little grainy but ok I think.
What landscape can you share?

Swarm

As it is too cold to try to find a swarm of anything where I live I had to try and find a picture that would work of this.  As luck would have it I went to the mall to try to find a swarm of kids waiting for Santa and I got nothing :0(  Guess its too cold.  So I looked through some vacation pics from this past May and found this swarm of Violin Crabs. This was on Sanibel Island in Florida.

Violin Crabs doing what they do

Ill try and revisit this word again.

Architecture

With it being so cold here in the 937 I had a few issues getting out and about today. I was in more of cleaning mood. (Maybe that’s why it’s so cold lol) I did have to take a friend to the airport today so I saw this….

IMG_3093.JPG
Not one of my best shots but it does show a really cool watch/communication tower at the Dayton International Airport. Can’t stop to long or the police run you off…so I stopped the car, jumped out, took the picture, jumped back in and took off…lol
So as I was moving stuff around I thought what does architecture really mean.
Webster subscribes it as the art and science of building or formation or construction resulting from or as if from a conscious act. This lead me to a photo I took yesterday in our snow storm.

IMG_3082.JPG
When we bought the house we looked for the perfect spot for our flag. I think this placement works well .
Of course here we have metro architecture as well.

DSC_8702.JPG
Every where you look there is something that was constructed in some form or another.
What will you create?

A pop of color..

Today was full of looking around trying to find the perfect…..pop of color. As luck would have it in Ohio we got a few inches of snow, so spotting color became more interesting for me. First I found this…

IMG_3078.JPG
I thought to myself that’s ok but I can find something else.
Pulled in the driveway to see this…

IMG_3079.JPG
Better but still not what I was really looking for. What does a photographer do when they want to find the right shot during a small snow storm…they bundle up and head outside :0)
Which turned into this..

IMG_2802.JPG
I had my trusty companion with me as well for some fun…

IMG_2822.JPG
I thought about cropping the cardinal picture but thought the branches helped frame him. What are your thoughts?

Warmth…

So many ideas went through my brain as I was thinking about our the word of the day. Here in Ohio I saw my first snow flakes of the year as I was running errands this morning. The thought of this just makes me cold. When I opened the front door I saw this on the couch….

IMG_3043.JPG
It’s one of the clan all curled up on the couch with her favorite blanket and her sweater on. Snug as a bug in a rug :0)
The warmth of a smile is also a good one for this…there’s just something about a happy dog that warms your heart!

IMG_0132.JPG
I may love the fur kids….just saying
But what really shows warmth to me is to capture moments like this…

IMG_1869-1.JPG
This was from my nieces Jr. Prom this last spring. Cute kids :0) I may be a bit bias.
These are just a few of the things that show warmth to me. What about you?

Today’s word is Landmark

I am a visual person as most people that love photography are. Which mean if you hand me written directions I might need a navigator to read them to me as I drive. How ever if you say turn right at the Dairy Queen I’ll get there a lot faster.
With today being Veterans Day I stopped at one of the landmarks I use to get people to my home…

IMG_3032.JPG
This is the Veterans Memorial in Beavercreek, Ohio. I love the way the bush in the front of the monument looks like a heart. This memorial reminds me everyday to be thankful for the freedoms that I have.
For those serving and to those who have served I thank you!

Day 2 Street

Today we were asked to think about the word street. Here is one of my favorites….

IMG_3005.JPG
This is the street I grew up on. You can see the front of my car as I head down the street. To the left is the house I grew up in and on the right is the street light that I told time from. As long as the light wasn’t on I could be anywhere on the block. But when the light came on I had better have been on that front porch or I was spending the next few days in the house.
The houses around my parents home were full of people that I have fond memories of. There is the neighbor that carried me home when I fell off my bike and broke my arm (not sure who was crying harder me or her), or the man I called Grandpa that I watched every Cincinnati Reds game that was televised with from the age of 9 till I moved away from home. Most of them have moved on to the afterlife but they played an important roll in my childhood.
This picture brings a lot memories great for me.

May 21 update

Well it has been an eventful 2 weeks.
I went to Sanibel Florida for a week to relax and recharge and the weather was perfect. I also found my creativity again. I had lost my love of photography somewhere in a text book the last year. No worries though I found it in a shell on Sanibel Island.

It could have helped that the pool was like a warm bath and the sand was white. The ocean was amazing as well.

20140521-095312-35592034.jpg
With beautiful sunsets. Yep may have taken way to many pictures….wait is that even possible.
Watched my calories while on vacation…..well most of the time. Didn’t drink as much water as I should have…no big surprise there really. But I still managed to loose another inch and a quarter off my body. So that means I am down 12.25 inches off my body sense the beginning of March. Weight wise there hasn’t been any change but I working on that part a bit more starting next week.
I’m going to check out a work out place and Plan to work out 3-4 days a week along with my daily walks. Building muscle and slimming down that is the goal.
My mother died early from lung and heart issues and I don’t want that for me. So I will take good care of me :0)
I’ll keep ya posted!

What I wanna get done in 2013

So here I sit on the second day of 2013 and I have a few moments for myself so I thought I would jot down a few things I would like to see happen in 2013.

1) First off I am going to blog at least once a week…More if I can           2) Take a picture of Mr P everyday for a year.  He is my traveling companion and yes it is Mr Potato Head.    3) Eat Better            4) Get back in the gym       5) Walk the 5k breast cancer walk in Oct        6) Ride my bike more             7) Lower my BP   8) Write a letter ever month. This was a hit last year so I am going to do it again :0)        9) DRINK MORE WATER. There is an app for that…waterlogged. It reminds you to drink water at all the times you want and even keeps track for you what you consume in the day!

Those are the first 9 off the top of my head. All doable and with in my grasp.  Check back with me and see how I am doing.  Blogs could go in all kinds of direction.  Thinking maybe even a video blog from time to time.  We will see if I can fit that in.  I just wanna get back to taking care of me and sharing y story where I can and really just blow off some steam if I need to.

I will leave you with this:  Always remember you are braver than you believe, Stronger then you seem, and Smarter than you think!!

Peace and Love,
