Water….to me is life. Our body’s are made up of it. We use it to wash our hands to flush the toilet. We actually need water to live.
With that being said as I was waiting to pick up my wife from work it started to rain.
Just a soft light rain but enough to make people drive differently. Enough to make me stop and listen to the drops hit the roof of my car. Enough to make me become aware of my surroundings.
I took this and focused on the drops and not the hustle and bustle that was going on around meI guess I really needed that few minutes to reground myself today.
Well the month of January only has about a week left so I thought I would update my life changes.
Last week I am pretty sure I had some of that flu crap that has been going around. But I will get back in the groove soon!
I got signed up for a web design class that is next week. Looking forward to getting my photography stuff put on an actual web page. I even signed up for a digital video class. I am looking forward to seeing what all I can learn. They will help me to broadcast my own show. I have a lot of ideas I just gotta get them all out :0)
I have been drinking a lot more water. Got signed up for the local gym and have been going 3-5 times a week. Sure does help get me going in the mornings. Staying within my calories. I got a scale. I am only using it once a week when I measure. So far 2 pounds gone so we are calling that a win :0)
Been putting together an easy store to sell my cards. I just gotta get the cards together and a catalog of sorts to keep track of what I have.
I am feeling better and better! life is going well….One day at a time.
Today’s word is water. When I think of this word I am reminded of long baths, hot showers, walks in the rain, swimming, fishing, drinking (water that is), the sprinkler in the yard, water ballon fights and the ocean. But what picture should I share with you today….
I have this one from a month or so ago that shows the fun of water.
You should never miss an opportunity to make a memory with a child.
But today I am reminded that water is what keeps our body hydrated.
Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells, and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues. (mayoclinic.org)
Although not proven the average person has been taught that 8 glasses of water a day is what you should should drink….but all fluid count, water just helps flush out the bad stuff.
Drink up friends!
Well for the last two weeks I have been drinking more water (that’s right water.) I have been walking the dogs at least once a day for 2.5 miles and some days I even walk them twice….go me. I’m watching my calorie intake and my sleep patterns….I have no weight lose yet. But I am feeling better and that is the main goal of this life style change. I may not be the fastest walker but I am doing laps around the people sitting on the couch!
I’m glad I am a morning person. There isn’t much traffic on our street at 7am so walking at that time is perfect at least on the weekends. During the week it’s more like 630 or the dogs are sitting every 20 steps because a car is passing. The westie is my tank she walks hot, cold, wet, dry and just goes and goes. The two shelties are another story. The big one walks but tries to get us back home fast. The little one just wants to herd me where she wants to go. I try to assure her I will win this game but I find myself going really where ever she leads us. Guess she wins the game after all :0)
It helps too that when I walk in the mornings I am hungry when I get home so breakfast has become a staple at the house. I make the dogs there’s and then while I am eating so are they. They seem to like that.
So one step at a time is my new motto!
Here it is Monday and my to do list has been growing and growing.
School starts tomorrow and I went to print my syllabus’s and well lets just say it is going to be a long semester :0(
I am still struggling with water. You would think tha tthat would ne an easy thing to do…I thougth it would be but it is not. I need to come up with a better way. I did put a water bottle in my book bag. There is a water fountain near both my classes so I figure if I care the bottle I have to fill it up and drink it right. That is my story and I am sticking to it. Baby steps.
Last year I started sending random letters to friends and family memebers so that they recieved mail that wasnt a bill. I did this all year last year and was suprised at how touched people were that they recieved a hand written note. So I started it again this year. My first letter went out this morning.
All in all I am doing well. My photo a day is working well. It has been fun and I have a few partners in crime that help me out. You can check out the pictures a day at the top of the screen or you can check out my littel buddys blog at mrpsadventures.wordpress.com.
Ill update you on how the classes are going soon.
Wish me luck on the water and with school!
So here I sit on the second day of 2013 and I have a few moments for myself so I thought I would jot down a few things I would like to see happen in 2013.
1) First off I am going to blog at least once a week…More if I can 2) Take a picture of Mr P everyday for a year. He is my traveling companion and yes it is Mr Potato Head. 3) Eat Better 4) Get back in the gym 5) Walk the 5k breast cancer walk in Oct 6) Ride my bike more 7) Lower my BP 8) Write a letter ever month. This was a hit last year so I am going to do it again :0) 9) DRINK MORE WATER. There is an app for that…waterlogged. It reminds you to drink water at all the times you want and even keeps track for you what you consume in the day!
Those are the first 9 off the top of my head. All doable and with in my grasp. Check back with me and see how I am doing. Blogs could go in all kinds of direction. Thinking maybe even a video blog from time to time. We will see if I can fit that in. I just wanna get back to taking care of me and sharing y story where I can and really just blow off some steam if I need to.
I will leave you with this: Always remember you are braver than you believe, Stronger then you seem, and Smarter than you think!!
Peace and Love,
Today I had to go to the doc and get my BP med refills. Went better than expected. My BP was great 104/74. The best it has been in 3 months. This being said the meds are working. I talked to her about this life change and how I wasn’t sure if it was the right thing or not being that I hadn’t lost any weight in 2 weeks. She asked me a very interesting question. She asked if I felt better. I told her yes. She said is it easier to work out…again my answer was yes…..she said where is the problem. Keep doing what you are doing and then you can adjust if you stop seeing results. So I will keep controlling my portions, eat more veggies, drink more water, and keep going to the gym. Not that I was going to stop I was just looking for another way to lose the weight.
SO tomorrow I will get up have some breakfast and then head to the gym.
Till Next Time….
I am looking at the 1200 calories that I have been trying to stay under and I am wondering if my body is thinking I am starving it. For 2 weeks I have been under except for 1 day. I have lost no weight. I am a bit discouraged I wont lie but I am looking into eating more veggies and fruit and drinking more water. I am at least eating better which has to be better for me anyway. I am talking to the doctor on Monday about anything she may have to say but I know I am doing the right thing for me. I do feel better. I am loosing inches all though the scale says no weight lose. I just need to see it move. It is what we use to see progress, the scale that is.
My boss is doing weight watchers. I would possible do that if it didn’t cost so much. But it does help that there isn’t all the junk around work.
I am not discouraged although it does sound that way. I just needed to vent. I am in it to win it! This is my year and I am going to lose the weight and I am going to get healthy! I AM!
Till Next Time…
I am bad for this. If it is in front of me I will drink it. SO I carried a bottle around with me most of the day. I did better doing that. Then I got to reading a blogs this evening and I see I am not the only one with this problem. I came across one blog that had this interesting site http://nutrition.about.com/library/blwatercalculator.htm it says:
Daily Hydration Calculator Results
A person who is 230 pounds
and is exercising for 40 minutes ,
is not pregnant,
is not breastfeeding,
does not live at a high altitude,
does not live in a dry climate,
drinks 0 alcoholic drink(s),
when the weather is not very hot or very cold,
and is not sick with fever or diarrhea should have:
119 ounces of water today, or 3.6 liters.
If you eat a healthy diet, about 20 percent of your water may come from the foods you eat. If you eat a healthy diet you can drink 95.2 ounces of water today, or 2.9 liters.
Water is an obvious source for your daily fluid needs. Other good beverages include milk, herbal teas, low-sodium broth, 100% fruit and vegetable juices. Soft drinks will also count toward your daily total of fluid, just remember that sugar sweetened soft drinks and fruit juices add extra calories to you daily diet that you don’t need, while drinking water may help you lose weight.
Well being that is what I wanna do…..I am going to drink more water because I need to!
With all of this being said I had dinner with a great friend tonight. She is also making a lot of changes in her life and instead of our normal Mexican feast we had subway. was a good choice. Now the biggy I had spinach on my sandwich. That’s right miss I am not going to eat that hit it out of the park :0)
Stayed under calories today and I am feeling good. Parking in the back of the lot and walking a bit further to get to and from work. Headed to the gym in the am. Looking forward to it!
Till Next time…..
