Dirt Therapy

I forgot how good it feels to spend time out in the yard. Cleaning up from the winter. Planting new things. Listening to the birds sing! Oh and to find natures little animals here and there.

This last week I screamed so loud I thought he neighbors would come running to make sure I was ok. I was pulling weeds in one of the flower beds when something jumped at me. I jumped back and screamed.

It was a road. Pretty good size but I’m sure I startled him just as much as he startled me. No one came running so the scream must have been louder in my head. The joy of outdoors.

The garden is looking really good.

Lots of great things coming up and doing what they do! Grow and produce veggies.

It’s Memorial Day Weekend. Please be safe out there. Watch for bikes and motorcycles. Watch for kids balls headed for the street. Be in the moments this weekend. Thank you all who served but most of all thank you to those that gave their lives so we could be live the way we do!

Another year is done

Wow 2017 is going to be over in a few hours and I have had some time to think about the last year. I have gotten in better health! Walked not one but two 10ks this year! Went on a great vacation for Sanibel Florida! Planted a wonderful garden. Made better choices for my eating! Kept my blood pressure under control. Had family come and visit at my house for the first time ever! And my business did pretty well this last year as well! I have had a pretty blessed year really!

As 2018 comes rushing in I want to take a few minutes and share what my plans are for the new year.

Business wise I am taking a Master Class and learning more about portraits and getting more candid photos of my clients. Try and get there natural appearance. Even going to work on selling some of my work. Reading the Photographers Market 2018 book and going to get my work out there a bit! Starting January off with promo photos of a client for her new radio show…so exciting!

Still going to work on my health. The gym a few days a week and then some added stretching at home. I plan to walk the Air Force 10k again in 2018 and walk it a bit faster than in 2017. A few 5Ks I’m sure are going to happen as well. Plan to keep taking inches and weight off my body and continue to cook more at home for me and the family.

Going to spend time with friends and family in 2018. Going to try and make a schedule to see people that I have missed this last year. Even if it’s a FaceTime chat. Life is to short not too!

I am taking time for me in 2018. Whether it is a walk, a trip to the gym, some quiet time or what ever I am adding this to my life in 2018. It will help my mind to me healthier as well.

May 2018 be blessed beyond all our imaginations. May we all be healthier than we have ever been and may we be doing what makes us happy!

Bring in 2018! I’m ready!

The journey

As we each know in our own way, we sometimes take a step forward to take 2 steps back.  I have fallen and gotten back up more times then I can remember but the good news is I have gotten back up.

Physically I have been slowed down to a crawl for the last 3 weeks.  I took my shoe off and caused a tendon in my foot not to be happy.  Moon boot has been on and it is getting better but not as fast as I would like.  With that being said I have been able to get my mind and heart a little better in tune  with what I want to see happen in my life.

I am a procrastinator.  I have all these great ideas and my follow thru has been terrible.  Thru this whole sit on my behind and rest phase of life I have been able to organize my thoughts a bit better and get a grasp on what I need to get better at in this regard.  I am working on getting my cards on Etsy and eBay….Ill share that with you when I get the stores published.  I did become a business last month.

I will be doing better for my health as well. I have put me on the back shelf to get other things done and I am telling you that that is changing.  If I don’t take care of me no one else can.

With that being said I am ready to re commit to giving the world the best me that I can. Be looking for more updates!

Jan is on the way out….

Well the month of January only has about a week left so I thought I would update my life changes.

Last week I am pretty sure I had some of that flu crap that has been going around.  But I will get back in the groove soon!

I got signed up for a web design class that is next week.  Looking forward to getting my photography stuff put on an actual web page.  I even signed up for a digital video class.  I am looking forward to seeing what all I can learn.  They will help me to broadcast my own show.  I have a lot of ideas I just gotta get them all out :0)

I have been drinking a lot more water.  Got signed up for the local gym and have been going 3-5 times a week.  Sure does help get me going in the mornings.  Staying within my calories.  I got a scale.  I am only using it once a week when I measure.  So far 2 pounds gone so we are calling that a win :0)

Been putting together an easy store to sell my cards.  I just gotta get the cards together and a catalog of sorts to keep track of what I have.

I am feeling better and better! life is going well….One day at a time.

 

End of 2014

Wow what a year.

I received my college degree in May! Never really saw that happening!  Wooop Wooop!

Got to see Sanibell Island. Got to see my first in the wild alligator. He was a pretty quick fella!

I am truly blessed to have so many people in my life to help me on my journey.

I dropped 14.75 inches off my body in 2014.  Never to be seen again.  I don’t own a scale so that update will come in Feb when I go back to the doctor.

Thank you for being a part of my blogging life.  I have enjoyed sharing stories with you and hearing your comments.  Ive enjoyed getting to know you along the way as well.

Here is to a 2015 that is full of dreams fulfilled and love beyond our imagination. See you next year!

What now…

So I have caught some kinda cold :0(  Pretty sure my sister gave it to me over Christmas.  So as I have been in a cough syrup funk the last few days, I have been thinking to myself, where do I want this blog to go.  I am a photographer yes and I am working on a website for that.  I have my muses website (www.mrpsadventures.com), but what about this one.  So this one will be a little bit of this and a little bit of that.  Some of you will dig it, some of you won’t. That OK!

As the year comes to an end I am grateful for all I have learned from your comments and from reading your blogs as well. On the first I am going to list my goals for this next year and with your help I can put a big dent in making them a reality.

I have started an accountability group on Facebook.  Some past coworkers, high school buddy’s, friends and I are helping one another stay on track.  It has been a blessing being able to be a light at the end of the tunnel.  We aren’t perfect, you know that and so do I.  Sometimes we just need someone to say that s ok you can start again tomorrow. That what we all need.I am really looking forward to seeing where this leads us all.

You never know what will happen next!

Where has the year gone already.

As I sit at the computer taking a small break from studying I am reminded that in just 2 short months I will be a college graduate.  Wow this is like  a dream.  It seems like yesterday that I was walking into Sinclair Community College and talking to them about what my next step in life was going to be.    I am 5 pages away from having my Capstone finished for my degree and 6 tests away from being done with my associates degree.  That may not sound like a lot but to this “GIRL,” it means everything.

I am  firm believer that if you think you can do it then you can.  Will you catch on right away?  Maybe, but most likely not. I have had to learn to be  a better me and for that I am changed for the better for sure.

I am eating better and seeing the inches starting to come back off.  Keeping a food journal has been helping for sure.  Trying to stay under 1500 calories is getting easier now that I have my snacks all made out for the week :0)  I am down to my original measurements so I am good with that.  Now to get a scale that works correctly :0)

Spring has finally stepped in and giving us a bit of sunshine and I am thankful for that.  For a lot of reasons.  One I can get out on the bike path again and I can start walking the dogs in the mornings again.

One day at a time. That’s all we can do…Really one breath and one heart beat.  With that have a great day!

Jan 18 the Grocery Store

Ok so they put the health fruit and veggies in the front of the store that is great…..Works well for me however You look in their ad and there is junk food in it.  You round the corner and instead of healthy choses you find sugar and carbohydrates that you don’t need to put in your pie hole.  The schools have takin the cookie away from the kids and the soda pop. That is a good thing but…..To buy juice for the child to drink costs twice as much.  WTH?  Eat more fresh veggies and leaner cuts of meat….Ok then lean some of the money off of these products.  Send out coupons that will encourage people to eat better instead of buy 2 for a better deal.  Why would the avg 2 person household need to buy two of anything really.  Stock up for a rainy day I suppose but why.  We never know what we are going too eat till its dinner time on most nights.

The good news is I only spent 137 dollars at the grocery and I did by fresh veggies and I did get some vegetarian dishes for my partner in crime but in the grand scheme of things I spent too much and I dint buy really any junk food.  A bag of veggie chips is the worse thing I can remember buying and she may or may not eat those I can’t remember.

I did learn that taking a list helps cut down the crap I use to buy.  Also reminds me to use my coupons!!!!!

I guess what I am trying to say is….Eating healthy should not cost more.  Mrs Obama where are you helping the avg person get healthy.  Its cheaper to buy fattening foods.  At least in the spring and summer I can grow my own veggies…..Thank god!

What Else I think today

I got new glasses yesterday.  Normally that be a big deal but I am amazed at the fact that I can actually see better.  I knew I needed readers, I do a lot of computer and close up work but I also had to get a bit of help with my distance.  I can see things don’t get me wrong but, I can now see them clearly :0)  Didn’t even know this was a problem.

Had my first lab today.  Geology my old friend is back again.  This time with more historical things for me to learn.  Keeping finger crossed.  However I am going to need to get a smaller group.  One of the guys is great and the other two are just waiting for someone to give them the answer.  This could be bad.  First lab and only one question confused me.  That is progress being I didn’t get most of the last labs till the end :0)

Why don’t people talk in the elevator?  Is it because they have nothing to say or the fact that they think the other person really doesn’t care what they have to say.  I am a talker.  I talk to who ever when ever really.  Just in general stuff…what floor, have a good day.  I even say good morning to my fellow class mates as they com in the door to class.  I think this is a good thing and I am not going to change that.  Not one bit.  As a matter of fact I may even do it more :0)

I am really enjoying my picture a day assignment!  Mr P and I are making our rounds.  Thinking he may need to go on a vacation with someone…where should he go?

Well I am making tacos for dinner tonight.  Guess I should go get that ready!

I need to make me the change!  Make a difference!

Jan 9 Homework and life

New Semester New Work :0(

It’s really not that bad yet but it has potential to be.  Just gotta stay on my game, I can do this right?  Right!

Last month I went to the eye doctor and found out I need bifocals.  Sign of getting old.  Or as I like to say staring at the computer way too much…lol  I picked them up today and I really can’t believe what a difference that they are making.  I can see the computer now up close instead of having to lean back…who knew.

Still not doing what I want with the water which is my own fault. Just need to do it.  I will get better and I will be stronger for me.  On the 21st I have a Doc appointment to get meds refilled so I went and had my blood drawn for a full panel of things.  I will have those results the first of next week.  Will be interesting to see where all my levels are.

Well Back to the homework I go!
