Looking Back….

As the year 2011 comes to an end I wanted to take a minute and reflect on a few things.  This year has flown by and in a way I am glad to see it go.  Not that anything went really bad this year but I am looking forward to a fresh start.  2011 I changed jobs in March and it ended up being a blessing.  I am blessed to have great friends and wish I could see you all more often :0)

I had the opportunity to go back to school this year.  After being out of school for many, many years I really thought it was going to be worse than it was.  I lucked out and believe you me when I tell you that I am really enjoying it.  Not sure if it is because I have grown up and now know that I need a degree to get anywhere or that I just needed a change.  Either way I a continuing on next quarter and am hoping by winter quarter I can finish up with a degree in Communications.  What will I do with this degree….you will have to continue to watch my blog to see. I do know that my english class made me feel like I was smarter than a fifth grader :0)

My photography did pretty well this year and I am looking forward to making a few changes there as well.  My goal for this year is to get published in a national magazine.  This year I printed a few of my own magazines and that to me was a great success.  I want to see my name in the tag line on a book shelf at Borders, Books A Million or even the grocery store.  I can do this.  I am going to visit a few people I know that own businesses and see if I can add some of my art work into their shops.  I am going to talk to a few other businesses and see if I can redecorate their offices.  Maybe even see if I can do a showing some where when the Oregon has its gallery hops this spring and summer.  This next year I want to focus on my work.

I am also going to work on me.  This year I was put on BP meds.  Good news is they are working bad news is I have to remember to take them.  So far I have been and it has helped out a lot.  I plan to do more about my health this year as well.  I am going to get back in the gym.  Work on my 1200 calories and no more eating after 7.  That is tough one when I don’t get off work till then.  But It will work out the way it is suppose too.

I could go on but I will save that for another blog.

Till Next Time……

Just When You Need It….

When I rolled out of bed this morning thinking about all the Christmas stuff I still needed to do I clicked on my FB wall because my phone had dinged and said I had a message on my wall.  As I open it up I see it is from my dear friend Anita.  Anita is a free-spirited friend of mine that is just amazing, she is a jack of all trades and well all I can say is she is amazing…..anyway she had sent me this message:

Penny,

As you go about the next two days of celebration, know that my thoughts are with you and your family.  Enjoy yourself and remember “YOU” are the best gift that has been given to those in your life.

Anita  XOXOXOXOX

Needless to say I shared this with a few people and anyone that has been on my wall today saw it.  That one comment helped me find my Christmas spirit.  It is exactly the right color, size and emotion that I needed.

I am thankful for the many blessings that I have been given….good friends, a roof over my head, vehicles that run…just to name a few.

With this being said I am humbled by my friends statement.  Thank you Anita for helping me remember that I matter!

Till next time….

Welcome To Ohiophotogrl’s World

Welcome to my first attempt at a blog.  During the next several months I am hoping to turn this into a way for me to share my photography, share my adventures, share my hopes, dreams and I am sure a fear or two along the way.

I am starting a few new journeys in 2012.  I am going to drop several pounds!!!!  I am going to get published in a national magazine one way or another this year (my photography that is).  I am Challenging myself to actually take at least one photo a day and journal why I took it even if I have nothing to take a picture of (their is always my feet! LOL)  I am also taking classes at Sinclair this quarter and I am sure there will be a story or two about that.

So a bit about me….I am a gypsy at heart.  I love to travel and have had a lot of opportunity to do that.   I have traveled most of the US and Canada. I love to scuba dive and have dove in Belize, Cozumel, the Bahamas, and the Florida Keys.  I love to see all the touristy stuff there is.  Everything has a story.  I like to look at things more photojournalist like.  Just kinda sitting back and watching everything unfold.

I have had a great opportunity to share my passion for photography with people.  I enjoy showing people how their cameras can work better for them.  How to use all those menus or to even set the camera for them so they get great pictures every time.  I love to see the expression that a person makes when they have been trying to get that great shot of there prize rose and I show them the macro on the camera and how close they can get.  That expression to me is worth more than money.

Please check back with me and see how this all unfolds…..till next time
